Overall, What was your favorite film and why?

I think after watching all of the movies we did. My favorite film would be Reservoir Dogs. My reasoning for this would be the way they used music.

  1. The music in the movie is so great. No doubt about it. I would say Double Indemnity or Out of the Past, as I had never seen them before. Both were fantastic.

  2. I thought Mildred Pierce was fantastic. It really showed a strong feminine presence that gave them a toughness that isn't often portrayed in films. I really sympathized more with her than any other character the whole semester, and was surprised by how much I liked the film.

  3. I have to agree with Aaron. Mildred Pierce was a great movie. From the scenes to to the story they were all very well timed and placed.

  4. I think my favorite was Reservoir Dogs and Psycho. I really liked the dialog in Reservoir and the usage of music in the film. Psycho was well acted and the score was amazing, probably one of my favorite scores in a film ever.

  5. It's hard to pick a favorite. I've always loved old movies, even as a kid, so I guess I lean more towards this i this series. I was surprised how many popular movies I hadn't watched because I had expected something very different from others reviews (never trust them-I know). I had seen Mildred Pierce and really liked it, but Double Indemnity, Chinatown and Out of Past were great too. Didn't care for Blood Simple or Reservoir Dogs, just not my thing. Very surprised I liked Psycho. Never what it as a kid, thought it was scarier. I chuckled most of the way through it. All in all a great choice of movies.

  6. I really liked Blood Simple because the fat guy in the yellow suit was hilarious. The plot was alot better than I anticipated and the song by the Temptations at the end totally throws off how you would expect to feel at the end of the movie.

  7. Great Question. I'm glad so many different ones appealed. I love all these film of course (I picked them after all), but I thought I "got" Reservation Dogs watching it this time in a way I didn't always previously. I felt similarly about Dawn of the Dead. Oh, and by the way, in case anyone is looking for The Temptations version of "Same Old Song" you won't find it--it's the Four Tops.

  8. Jame', interesting you should point out the man in the yellow suit. I wrote my final paper over Blue Velvet which ALSO had a man in a yellow suit. I wonder if David Lynch liked the idea and used it. It is an interesting sartorial choice.

  9. I liked Mildred Pierce and Psycho

Mildred Pierce made me feel such hatred and anger towards Vida/Vita? and I feel like that really is something impressive when a movie can make someone angry

Psycho- creepiest, most ingenious plot and most fun to watch

    close 3rd
Chinatown--I always love watching this film...classic

    Least Favorites...

    Out of the Past
    Cat People

Maybe consider showing Cool World or Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Sin City ... or even Paprika
