I have a question that I'm not sure there is an answer to. I believe Mr. Pink mentions that he has the jewels and he hid them. When everybody went to move the cars, did they get the jewels? Is that was Mr. Pink took with him when he left the warehouse at the end? Are the jewels the shining thing inside the brief case in Pulp Fiction? Tarantino has said that the shining thing is not Marsellus's soul, but I don't think there has ever been a verified answer....or has there? Does anybody know?
There is no answer to that question. Tarantino has also said it's Elvis' gold suit in the case.
ReplyDeleteI would assume that he did take them. Remember they left Mr. Blonde alone with Orange and the cop, so they could get the jewels and remove some of the cars from the lot.
I thought Mr. Pink was the most interesting character. Of all the characters, we seemed to learn more about his inner workings (outside of criminal-ism) such as his opinion on tipping.
ReplyDeleteI liked how he kept shouting they were professionals and had a code and such. It's because of this that I thought he would live in the end: he was the only person who abided by the rules - no names and no information about where they were from. So, I'm wondering if he "broke" a different rule and that's why he still died in the end.
I just listened to the end of the movie with the volume turned up really high. Mr. Pink scurries out with the bag of diamonds and tries to escape. A lot of police cars show up and many gunshots are fired. A few moments later you can hear Mr. Pink shouts "don't shoot, I've been shot god dammit." Based on this, I think it safe to assume he was arrested and the diamond were confiscated by the police.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure this is exactly what happened. They got the jewels and they are placed by the door by Nice Guy Eddie, then Mr. Pink grabs them as he leaves but is stopped and shot by the police.
DeleteCan you hear anything else to confirm he was arrested? Or is "don't shoot, I've been shot god dammit" the last thing we hear?
DeleteI never made a connection to Pulp Fiction, good observation. I doubt it relates directly to Pulp but it could be a nod to Reservoir Dogs. I think there were other loose ties between the films but I would guess its Tarantino creating added lore to his films.
ReplyDeleteBarry you are right like I said to the group he was shot, arrested, and the jewels had to have been taken by the cops. I also like the fun facts about Tarantino's thoughts of what he had in the case. Tarantino references many of his old movies in other movies or names of old characters in new films.
